I came here just to talk to you, in the midst of everything going on
I could barely find the words, as it has been so long
You were looking at me in a way I never thought you would, as if some substance one would be high on
We just stood there, no words were exchanged, and yet the conversation was taking place

When was the last time you actually managed to sleep?
To get a full recovery of everything going on around you and everything you wish to just forget
Whenever you are tired, you seem quite older than me, swimming in an ocean that is far too deep
All I wish to do when I see you that way is to become your rescue net

Then, at one moment, you just closed your eyes and the light started to dim
That last thing we talked about felt different, it felt strange to your entire system
You took a moment to just get a hold of yourself again and find some breathing in all of this fit slim
The fit slim room we were in, where no one has entered without your approval of letting them

It was never easy for you in the first place, to even accept the idea that such a place existed
A place disconnected from the rest of world, a place where you did not have to be someone you are not
You have been carrying the weight of everyone’s troubles on your own shoulders, and now they are all shattered
And it feels like you are fading into darkness because the rope is broken, when all it needs is a knot

I just could not stay here, looking at you hurt all alone right in front of me
I just had to do or say something, for my heart aches whenever I see you like this
No words would make any difference, as they feel empty and pointless and forgotten in such a short spree
You just wanted to know you are being heard, that you were not losing your mind to the point you would want your face to meet your fist

I could not take it any longer, and so I got closer to you to the point you were at arm’s length
You told me to stay away from you, that you wanted to protect me from the monster you were, but I kept on getting nearer
You tried to escape and run away, but eventually I caught you and held you close to my chest
At that moment, you broke down in tears, the dam made way for all the pain and anger

At that moment, I felt some light rejuvenate itself in you
It was the same light you managed to give to everyone around you for so long, yet today your tank was finally empty
Be still, take the air from my lungs and be filled up again in life and remember that what they say is true
Family is not just blood connections; it is everyone who cares for you and loves you unconditionally
